Assemble + Schools of Tomorrow: The Place We Imagine
Nottingham Contemporary, 2022
Nottingham

Exhibition graphics and marketing for exhibition, Assemble + Schools of Tomorrow: The Place We Imagine curated by Lisa Jacques, Amanda Spruyt and Nicole Yip.

In 1968, Italian-Brazilian architect Lina Bo Bardi drew a fantastical playground, which imagined a series of vast structures in front of the Museum of Art, São Paulo (MASP). This utopian play-space, however, was never built.

Over a three year period, Nottingham Contemporary worked with design collective Assemble, and children from schools across Nottingham, to bring Bo Bardi’s vision to life. The Place We Imagine, presents three giant play structures – two directly inspired by Bo Bardi’s drawing, and one designed in dialogue with children from three local schools.

Alongside the play structures, the exhibition presents graphic interventions by Stinsensqueeze, drawn from the documentation of the workshops run with local schools. Such workshops include the design of typeface US developed with artist Laura Eldret, Fraser Muggeridge and the children of The Milford Academy.
